ABOUT: Published 8 times a year, WebMD Magazine covered the latest in medical advances, food, fitness, beauty and health news. Available in 85% of doctor’s offices and as a digital version on WebMd's website, the magazine helped readers make smart health decisions for themselves and their families.

 

MY ROLE: As art director, I was responsible for the visual direction of the magazine, designing all of the layouts and working with food and still life photographers, freelance illustrators and stock agencies to provide imagery, including celebrity photography. 

DESIGN INSIGHT: WebMD Magazine celebrity interviews were the focal point of the magazine. A means for celebrities to speak frankly about a health-related topic, these features were meant to reflect the theme and celebrity personality in a creative yet sensitive way that enhanced but didn’t overpower the content.

20/20 Magazine

ABOUT:  20/20 Magazine is the industry’s leading optical publication with a circulation of 50,000 subscribers. Published 14 times a year, the magazine covers fashion trending, branding, style, product news and continuing education.

 

MY ROLE: As art director, I worked closely with the editorial team to plan and shape each issue, overseeing the magazine from start to finish, from developing story ideas and art directing photoshoots to laying out copy and sending files to the printer.

DESIGN INSIGHT: The design of 20/20 Magazine is focused on putting eyewear and its designers in the spotlight and emphasizing the beauty of eyewear as a fashion accessory. Designer profiles offered a unique opportunity to combine the featured designer's aesthetic with the magazine's design identity.
